MSN, APRN, CWS

Professional Summary

Kaylea knew she wanted to work in healthcare almost before she could talk. Born and raised in upstate New York, she followed that passion to Brigham Young University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2020, and later to Duke University, where she completed her Master of Science in Nursing in 2024.

Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Kaylea built a diverse nursing background caring for patients in psychiatry, addiction recovery, men’s health, urology, gastroenterology, primary care, and wound care. It was wound care, however, that truly captured her heart. After two years as a wound care nurse in Salt Lake City, she knew she had found the specialty where she could make the greatest impact.

Today, Kaylea is a Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) through the American Board of Wound Management (ABWM), dedicated to helping patients heal complex wounds while preserving mobility, independence, and quality of life. She often says, “Once you start working in wound care, you never want to do anything else.”

Outside of the clinic, Kaylea enjoys spending time with her husband, their baby, and their two dogs, and loves discovering new restaurants, reading, and quilting.

Clinical Focus

Advanced Wound Care, Limb Preservation, Diabetic Foot Ulcers, Chronic & Non-Healing Wounds, Pressure Injuries, Venous & Arterial Ulcers, Post-Surgical Wounds, Infection Management, Wound Prevention & Patient Education

Leadership

Our founding team

Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Professional Summary

Kristin is the co-founder and CEO of DFS Medical — but if you ask her what she does, she’ll tell you she’s the clinic’s chief advocate for patients. DFS Medical was born from a question she couldn’t stop asking: why are so many patients having such devastating outcomes — and why isn’t anyone doing anything about it?

She believes patients deserve answers, and someone willing to ask why when others have accepted the status quo — to look deeper for the underlying cause and build a team that never stops advocating for the best possible outcome. That philosophy shaped every part of DFS Medical, from the multidisciplinary model of care to the culture of the team.

As an entrepreneur and visionary leader, Kristin has built organizations by challenging conventional thinking and creating systems that put people first. Her mission has never changed: to give every patient the best possible chance to heal, preserve their limb, and reclaim their life.

Co-Founder & VP, Marketing & Business Development

Professional Summary

As VP of Marketing & Business Development and a co-founder of DFS Medical, Leah is dedicated to helping more patients access specialized care before a small problem becomes a life-changing one. She worked alongside Kristin for years, and when Kristin set out to build a different kind of healthcare organization, Leah didn’t hesitate to join her.

Today, Leah leads physician outreach, business development, strategic partnerships, and marketing. She works closely with providers throughout Utah to build trusted referral relationships and ensure patients are connected with the right care at the right time.

She believes exceptional healthcare starts long before a patient walks through the doors — and that every interaction should reflect the compassion, urgency, and excellence that define DFS Medical. Outside of work, Leah enjoys time with her dog, Venus, and her home state of Colorado.
