Dr. Dan Patty (“Dr. Dan the Wound Care Man”) is a board-certified podiatrist & foot and ankle surgeon who has developed a mastery in treating complex, chronic wounds in diabetic patients with multiple comorbidities.

With these skills and passion in place, Dr. Dan co-founded and is the Chief Medical Officer for Utah’s first Advanced Wound Care Center: DFS Advanced Wound Care Center in Utah County. Dr. Dan is proud to have brought to Utah the most advanced wound care techniques and modalities available to patients.

As he educated himself on the risks diabetic patients face, Dr. Dan recognized a significant gap in diabetic patient care: in depth lower extremity risk assessment. Research has proven this risk assessment is often the difference in whether a diabetic patient will suffer the life threatening effects of diabetes in their lower extremities (DFU’s, VLU’s, extreme swelling and infection, vascular disease, amputation, etc.) or not.

As of the printing of this material, Dr. Dan’s clinic, Diabetic Foot Solutions, is the only medical facility in Utah that provides this type of lower extremity risk assessment for diabetics. He is delighted to see so many of his patients become aware of and avoid the lower extremity risks that so commonly befall diabetics.

Because diabetic lower extremity care is complex and requires extensive knowledge across many disciplines (podiatry, infectious disease, vascular, neurology, endocrinology, nephrology, cardiology, primary care, physical therapy, etc.), Dr. Dan has sought out extensive training with experts in these fields and works with the best in each field to bring about a positive outcome for the patient, including reducing their risk to life and limb, in many cases.

Dr. Dan is also very passionate about educating patients and other doctors about the lower extremity risks for diabetic patients. He can be found creating content on several social media channels in an effort to inform patients and their doctors.

Dr. Dan is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Utah Podiatric Medical Association.  He is also board-certified through the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.

Dr. Dan’s specialties include

  • Advanced wound care
  • Lymphedema/swelling
  • Neuropathy
  • Lower extremity risk assessments
  • All other issues that put diabetic patients at risk below the knee

Dr. Dan makes himself very accessible and easy to work with. He works hand in hand with doctors of other specialities to give diabetic patients the best possible care.

On a personal note, Dr. Dan is an avid adventurer and when he’s not helping patients, he can be found with his life partner, Kristin, discovering hidden gems in the great outdoors, especially underwater.
